♥️ Description ♥️
This exquisite Renaissance revival brooch showcases intricate brass filigree detailing, enhanced by rich blue pâte de verre cabochons designed to imitate lapis lazuli. The central cabochon is surrounded by a scalloped frame filled with white enamel, providing a beautiful contrast to the deep blue stones.
Pâte de verre was commonly used in vintage jewellery to replicate the look of precious stones. This brooch, with its glass stones and brass filigree, is a beautiful example of the Renaissance revival style popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, often featuring ornate designs inspired by historical motifs.
♥️ Dimensions ♥️
Length: Approximately 8 cm (3 inches)
Width: Approximately 1.5 cm (0.6 inches)
♥️ Age ♥️
This brooch likely dates to the early 20th century, around 1910-1930, in line with the popularity of Renaissance revival jewelry and the use of safety pin clasps for security. The detailed filigree work and pâte de verre stones are characteristic of this period’s costume jewelry.
♥️ Condition ♥️
This brooch is in good vintage condition for its age. There is some discoloration to the brass, particularly on the back, with minor green patina developing due to natural oxidation. The glass cabochons and enamel are intact, with some minor enamel chipping to the left and right of the central stone. The clasp functions securely. As with all vintage pieces, gentle care is recommended to preserve its beauty.
